Zachary Solano, Bass

Originally from Roxbury Township, New Jersey, Zachary Solano (he/him) is an up-and-coming professional tuba player in the NYC/New Jersey area. He completed his undergraduate degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied tuba performance with Kyle Turner and Derek Fenstermacher. In 2025, Zach received the prestigious Cecil Collins award for excellence in Brass Performance. He is a proud member of the NYC-based Oculus Brass Quintet, and is featured on its debut album, “123RD & SOUND”. Through his work, Zach aims to push the boundaries of the tuba by showcasing the wide range of sounds and colors his chosen instrument has to offer. Other past teachers include Paul Scott, Jeffrey Conrad, Mike Roylance, and Alan Baer.
